A message from the Mayor of Gloucester:
I’m delighted to announce the inaugural Mayor’s Charity Sixes Cricket Tournament, on Sunday April 10th 2016, at Gloucester Spa Cricket Club.
This will be a six-a-side knockout tournament, with six teams taking part. Each team will be asked to raise sponsorship, and there will be prizes for the winners and all participants. There will an auction and raffle, and charity and other stalls at the event. There will be food stalls and the cricket ground bar will be open. There will also be a bouncy castle and other activities for children. There will also be a fire engine!
Money raised will go to the Assuon Foundation Trust, providing textbooks and computers for children in Ghana, The Superhero Foundation which is my charity for my civic year, and The Primary Club, which is a sporting charity providing equipment to blind and partially sighted youngsters.
The Primary Club was supported by my friend Edward Tomlinson, who died ten years ago on April 6th 2006. This tournament is in honour of him, and the winner will receive the Edward Tomlinson Trophy.
